Bathurst Regional Council has joined Charles Sturt University in unveiling a new look and a new location for Council’s popular Careers Expo.
The event, which has been running as the Bathurst Jobs Expo since 2014, is now the Bathurst Careers Expo and will be held at the Charles Sturt University campus next month, on Tuesday 9 August.
Mayor Robert Taylor said the expo is a popular event that attracts hundreds of students and job keepers from across the region.
“The Expo is a central point for students and job keepers to meet with a range of education providers, local employers and government agencies in one location.
“To date we already have more than 50 registered stallholders and we expect this number to grow giving visitors to the expo a broad range of information and career opportunities to explore.”
“This year, it will also give the students a chance to get to know more about the Charles Sturt University campus and open up the range of study options available to them at our own local university,” Cr Taylor said.
Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renée Leon welcomed the opportunity to host the Bathurst Careers Expo at the University.
“This is the first year the event will be held on university grounds, within the Charles Sturt Bathurst gymnasium, which will facilitate an increased number of stalls and attendees with the larger space,” Professor Leon said.
Charles Sturt representatives will be available to speak about courses, campuses and the Charles Sturt Advantage early admissions program.
Professor Leon said staff from IBM Australia would also be in attendance to offer further insights into the partnership with the University.
“Our partnership with IBM Australia will open doors for those seeking a career in the IT sector through internships and job opportunities thereafter,” Professor Leon said.
“The Charles Sturt team at the expo will be able to offer expert advice on course options across all of our schools, including allied health, engineering, education and business.
“We are looking forward to working with Bathurst Regional Council and the local community to deliver this important event and welcome all job-seekers and employers to our Bathurst campus.”
The Bathurst Careers Expo will be held on Tuesday 9 August 2022 at the Charles Sturt University gymnasium between 9am and 3pm.
