Collective Art Exhibition featuring Soaking in the Views Dave Young at Olde Bridge Gallery Newbridge

A collaborative art exhibition celebrating the emergence from the pandemic and excitement at being able to welcome visitors back into the gallery.

The exhibition will Inspire visitors to explore, enjoy and appreciate the beauty of art, superbly displayed in a lovingly restored 1850’s building in the centre of the historic village of Newbridge.

For the first exhibition since the pandemic began, the Gallery is excited to feature Dave Young’s initial exhibition, “Soaking in the Views”. Dave began painting over 40 years ago before family life got in the way. His interest in painting in oils was reinvigorated when his wife gave him a new painting easel for his birthday, and he began painting again focusing on his lifelong love of the Australian landscapes, such as the “beautiful trees – all shapes & sizes, beside flowing rivers & dry creek beds. Best of all are the very aged gnarled and twisted trees that have been shaped by cold blustery winds, or our hot Australian sun.”

Dave then branched out into painting seascapes and water, reflections, incredible lifelike textures and captivating clouds, sunsets, and sunrises. Dave’s meticulous attention to detail in all his work, combined with entrancing depictions of Australian landscapes and waterscapes are a delight to the eye, transporting the viewer into beautiful and often restful places, which provide a peaceful and welcome escape from a chaotic world.

Dave will be supported by Jan Dickie “Pets and Places in Pastel”, David Lake “Colours of the Outback” and Wendy Smith photography “Trainscapes”, many with a Newbridge flavour.

The gallery is proud and excited to host Dave’s first exhibition. The exhibition will open 10 am Easter Saturday (16th April 2022), when all art lovers and visitors can enjoy a free morning tea and are welcome to meet Dave for a chat as they check out his amazing work.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the gallery will be hosting some free workshops including pencil sketching with David Lake, Beginner Pastel Art with Jan Dickie, and Beginner photography and flower photography with Wendy Smith. Places are limited and bookings essential – phone 6368 1081.

The exhibition will run for 8 weeks, Gallery opening hours are Saturday and Sunday 10 to 4 and we will also be open on Anzac Day, or by appointment phone 02 6368 1081.  More information can be found at: web:oldebridgegallery.com.au
