RAS encourages country shows to persevere in 2022

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is encouraging regional country shows and field days to take advantage of the recent NSW Government $5 million Country Show Support Package to help bring back country shows in 2022.

Recently announced and supported by the RAS, the Country Show Support Package will provide 190 agricultural shows in New South Wales with the opportunity to apply for funding to help them run agricultural events in 2022.

The program will assist show societies to lock in suppliers and equipment, helping alleviate the uncertainty many organisers face in our current environment and will have a positive flow-on to local businesses.

RAS President Michael Millner says so many communities and larger agricultural shows, including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, rely on our regional events to proceed.

“I implore country shows and field days organisers to take advantage of the recently announced NSW Government $5 million Country Show Support Package. The package is a fantastic way to support regional communities and provide the financial backing show organisers need, particularly in this current environment,” Michael Millner said.

“Putting on an agricultural show is no easy feat; it takes an incredible amount of time and effort by organisers and volunteers, however, once those gates open and you see the joy on visitors and exhibitors faces, there is nothing quite like it.”

Under the NSW Government Country Show Grant Program, show societies can receive up to $15,000 for small shows with an audience of less than 2,000 people across all event days, while medium to large shows can apply for up to $30,000 and $45,000.

Applications open Tuesday, 14 December 2021 and close Friday, 29 April 2022, or when funding is exhausted. To learn more about the 2022 Country Show Support Package please visit the Regional NSW website at https://www.nsw.gov.au/regional-nsw/country-shows-support-package
