Lake Pillans Boardwalk Now Open to the Public

Reconstruction of the Lake Pillans boardwalk, destroyed in the December 2019 bushfire event, is now complete and the public is encouraged to once again visit this unique wetland reserve.

“I’m sure that many members of the community will be very pleased to know that they can once again visit and enjoy the Lake Pillans wetlands,” said Mayor Ray Thompson.

The December 2019 bushfires completely destroyed the original boardwalk preventing the public from walking around the lake and across to Blast Furnace.  Lake Pillans is much loved by the community and is a popular destination for walkers so the community is encouraged to have a look at the new boardwalk and while there, explore the wetlands and Blast Furnace heritage site.

“The Lake Pillans precinct is a very good example of Council’s commitment to ensuring that the Lithgow community has first rate environmental, recreational and cultural assets that help make this community a great place to live and visit,” concluded the Mayor.

Reconstruction works were undertaken by local contractor Central Industries.
