Member for Bathurst Paul Toole is urging Lithgow residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 following the announcement today that the Civic Ballroom at Tony Luchetti Sportsground will be the venue for the city’s walk up vaccination hub.
Mr Toole has been working behind the scenes with the relevant authorities for several weeks now make the walk up vaccination hub become a reality for the expected influx of residents wanting to get the jab.
“I can confirm the Civic Ballroom will be transformed this week to enable it to become a three-day walk up COVID-19 vaccination hub, opening this Sunday and continuing on the Monday and Tuesday,” he said.
“With the support of NSW Health, The Australian Defence Force (ADF), Lithgow Council, Police and volunteers, the hub will be open from September 12-14, with opening times to be confirmed.
“Both AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines will be available, depending on each person’s eligibility.
“The clinic will return in about three to four weeks time to deliver the vital second dose.
“This is a walk-up clinic which means there is no need to book ahead. However, remember to come prepared with food and drink, as the queue may be long. And depending on the weather, a hat and sunscreen may also be advisable.”
This clinic is also available to residents of Oberon who are requiring to be vaccinated.
Mr Toole said the Delta strain of COVID-19 is incredibly easy to pass on, and can make people – even young, healthy people – very sick.
“In fact, if someone in your household has COVID-19, it’s almost certain that everyone in that household will get it,” he said.
“Vaccination in substantial numbers is our way through this as a community.”
The guidelines for vaccination include:
12-59 years – Pfizer and AstraZeneca available for the general population;
60yrs and over – AstraZeneca (exemptions for those in this group wanting alternate vaccine will not be available at this walk-in clinic, please make an appointment with a suitable provider).

YOU MUST NOT ATTEND THIS VACCINATION CLINIC IF:
– You are waiting on a COVID-19 test result.
– You are a CONFIRMED close contact of a CONFIRMED positive COVID-19 case.
– You are unwell. If you have any COVID symptoms, get tested & isolate until you receive a negative test result.
– You have had ANY other vaccination (including flu) in the previous seven days.
