NSW recorded 818 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Of these locally acquired cases, 120 are linked to a known case or cluster – 94 are household contacts and 26 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 698 cases is under investigation.
Forty-seven cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 15 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Forty-two cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 714 cases remains under investigation.
No new cases were acquired overseas in the 24 hours to 8pm last night and 15 previously reported cases have been excluded following further investigation. The total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 18,611.
There have been 13,022 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
Growing list of exposure sites in Bathurst and Lithgow
Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole MP, has confirmed there are further exposure sites added to the list after todays official press conference and is urging all local residents in the region to get tested if they have been at one of these locations, or even if they have the mildest of symptoms.
6 additional cases were recorded in Bathurst as part of today’s announcement, however there are no new confirmed cases in Lithgow after the sewage detection was announced last week. However, with the huge increase in testing numbers over the weekend and today, that may change in coming days.

If you were in these venues at that time or on those days, you are considered a casual contact. Health advice is that anyone who attended these venues is a casual contact and must get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result. If your date of exposure at this venue occurred in last 4 days, you must get another test on day 5 from the date of exposure. Wear a mask around others and limit your movements until you get another negative result. You should continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms occur, get tested again
COVID 19 Testing Facility to be set up at Lithgow Showground
Lithgow City Council are advising motorists of a temporary change to traffic conditions in the Barton Street / George Coates Avenue, Lithgow due to the implementation of a drive through COVID19 testing clinic within the confines of Tony Luchetti Sportsground, Lithgow.
Mayor Ray Thompson advised “In order for authorities to safely direct and control the expected increase in vehicles attending a COVID19 drive through testing clinic within the confines of the Tony Luchetti Sportsground, some changed traffic conditions are needed to be implemented in George Coates Avenue and Barton Street.”
“No changes to traffic flow or directions are expected at this stage, but traffic controllers will be on site monitoring and assisting motorists to get through the testing site as quickly and safely as possible. It is expected that these changed traffic conditions will be in effect from 7.00am until 6.00pm daily (including weekends), from Wednesday, 25th August 2021 until the program concludes, up to two (2) weeks.”
Residents and motorists will still be able to access businesses and properties in the area, but are asked to keep these changes in mind when travelling within the area, and allow additional travel time if necessary.
