A Big Weekend Ahead for Oberon

Winter will officially arrive in style across Oberon this June Long Weekend, with a packed line-up of events set to showcase the region’s food, entertainment, history and community spirit.

From heritage railways and community markets to fireworks, live music and truffle tastings by the fire, Oberon is once again proving why it continues to attract visitors from across the Central West and beyond during the cooler months.

The long weekend celebrations kick off with the Oberon Community Markets at the Oberon Showground on Saturday, June 6, from 9 am to 1 pm. A favourite on the local calendar, the markets will feature a variety of stalls including handmade goods, local produce, gifts and treats, offering the perfect opportunity to support local makers and businesses.

Food lovers will also have plenty to enjoy, with RedGround officially launching the 2026 truffle season across both Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, from 12 pm to 5 pm at 264 Titania Road, Oberon. Guests can settle in beside the fire while experiencing truffle tastings and local flavours in a relaxed country atmosphere. With Oberon recognised as one of Australia’s leading truffle-growing regions, the launch is expected to draw strong interest from visitors keen to experience the region’s growing food tourism scene. Bookings essential for this one, so be sure to head to redground.com.au.

History and rail enthusiasts can step back in time at the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway Open Day on Sunday, June 7, from 10 am to 4 pm on North Street, Oberon. The popular open day offers visitors a chance to explore the railway precinct and learn more about the region’s rail history, with morning tea and light lunches available throughout the day.

As the sun goes down on Sunday evening, attention will turn to the Oberon Golf Club for the Family Bonfire and Fireworks Night. Gates open at 5 pm, with fireworks lighting up the winter sky at 7 pm, followed by live music at 7.30 pm. The event promises a fun and relaxed evening for families, friends and visitors enjoying the long weekend in town.

The Oberon RSL Club will also be buzzing throughout the weekend, beginning Friday night with the Oberon Tigers Black & Gold Ball from 6 pm. Live entertainment continues Saturday night with Terry & Nigel from 7.30 pm, before Creedence & Friends take to the stage Sunday evening from 7 pm.
