Scottish Folk Legend Heads to Bathurst

Bathurst music lovers are in for a special evening this November, with internationally acclaimed Scottish folk musician Alan Reid set to perform at Jack Duggans Irish Pub on Wednesday 11 November.

Best known for his remarkable career with Scotland’s legendary Battlefield Band, Alan will bring decades of musical experience, storytelling and traditional Scottish sounds to the George Street venue.

Having joined Battlefield Band in 1969, Alan helped establish the group as one of the most influential names in Celtic folk music, recording almost 30 albums and taking Scottish music to audiences around the world.

A talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Alan became the band’s principal songwriter in 1990, developing a reputation for songs rich in storytelling and deeply connected to Scotland’s musical heritage.

His achievements include a nomination for Composer of the Year at the 2009 Scots Traditional Music Awards and induction into the Scots Traditional Music Hall of Fame alongside his former bandmates in 2016.

Since leaving Battlefield Band in 2010, Alan has continued performing internationally, including recording five albums with singer and guitarist Rob Van Sante.

Now performing solo, his concerts feature a wonderful mix of traditional and contemporary Scottish folk music, accompanied by piano, guitar and accordion.

Local organiser Jenny is delighted Bathurst has been included in Alan’s Australian tour and is encouraging music lovers to make the most of this rare opportunity.

Guests are also encouraged to embrace the Scottish spirit by wearing a touch of tartan, while local performers interested in contributing a floor spot are welcome to get in touch.

The performance begins at 7.30pm on Wednesday 11 November, with entry just $20, cash at the door.

A wonderful opportunity to enjoy world-class folk music right here in Bathurst!
