Blayney Shire Council will continue under familiar leadership, with Cr Bruce Reynolds returned as Mayor and Cr John Newstead elected as the Shire’s new Deputy Mayor at Council’s September meeting.
The result will see Cr Reynolds continue in the leadership role he has held since the newly elected Council came together following the September 2024 local government election.
Cr Reynolds stepped into the mayoral role after former Mayor Scott Ferguson chose not to seek re-election, bringing to a close an extraordinary 25 years on Council, including 12 years as Mayor. Over the past two years, Cr Reynolds has maintained a strong and visible presence across the district, supporting local organisations and representing the Shire on the regional stage.
Council also acknowledged outgoing Deputy Mayor Cr Rebecca Scott, thanking her for the commitment, support and positive contribution she brought to the role throughout her term.
Cr Newstead will now join Cr Reynolds in Council’s leadership team, working alongside fellow councillors, Council staff and the community to keep the needs of Blayney and its villages firmly in focus.
