Keep 28th August free in your diaries and join Blayney Shire Can Assist at Blayney Community Centre from 10.30am – 12 noon to raise funds for cancer sufferers in our local community.
Admission is $15 per person, and this year we are fortunate to have a special guest entertainer, Betty Stroud, presenting a one-woman show, Moving Along: Stories of a Traveller.
Betty Stroud grew up in Dubbo and has studied at the NSW Conservatorium of Music, gaining a Piano Teaching Diploma, and the University of New England, where she majored in Theatre Studies. Betty went on to study at the United Theological College in North Sydney before becoming an ordained Minister within the Uniting Church. Her love of acting and performing, coupled with her vast travel experiences, has stayed with her over the years, and she has skilfully woven them together to create an entertaining performance for those who come along to the morning tea. Betty will also have copies of her book, “Puffin Along with Betty” available for purchase on the day, with half the proceeds going to Can Assist.
In addition to our guest performer, we will also be drawing our raffle. Tickets are on sale at Bernardi’s Market Place on Thursday 6th August and Friday 21st August. Tickets will also be available at the morning tea.
We have some great prizes on offer:
1st Prize – A “Squid” Sit- on -top Kayak (donated by the Slattery family)
2nd Prize – Driza-bone coat (donated by Wepelec Orange)
3rd Prize – A Linen Bundle: Queen size sheet set and Doona cover
In addition, we will also have lucky table prizes and a lucky door prize.
