Phoenix Choir Returns to Lithgow with ‘Perchance to Dream’

Phoenix Choir Blue Mountains will return to Lithgow next month, presenting its latest concert, “Perchance to Dream”, at Hoskins Memorial Uniting Church.

The concert will be held on Sunday, 9 August at 3 pm, inviting local music lovers to enjoy an afternoon of choral music exploring the sounds and themes of the night.

Perchance to Dream* will take audiences on a musical journey across the centuries, beginning with the hushed and ancient tones of early polyphony before moving through to the rich harmonies of some of the world’s most recognised classical and contemporary composers.

The program features works by Dowland, Purcell and Bach, alongside music from Mozart, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Rheinberger and Fauré. Audiences will also hear works by Vaughan Williams and Barber, as well as contemporary composer Eric Whitacre.

Adding a strong local connection to the program will be music by local composer and arranger Kevin Barker.

The performance will be further enhanced by the rich resonance of the cello, adding another layer to what promises to be a beautifully presented afternoon of live music.

Phoenix Choir Blue Mountains has built a strong reputation for bringing carefully selected choral programs to audiences across the region, and its return to Hoskins Memorial Uniting Church provides another opportunity for Lithgow audiences to experience the choir locally.

With a program spanning centuries of music, *Perchance to Dream* offers something for long-time classical music followers as well as those simply looking to enjoy a quality live performance on a winter Sunday afternoon.

Tickets are $40 and $35, with children admitted free.

Tickets will be available at the door on the day or can be purchased online through the Phoenix Choir website at www.phoenixchoir.org.au/tickets.

The concert begins at 3 pm on Sunday, 9 August at Hoskins Memorial Uniting Church, Lithgow.
