Applications for the 2027 Living Legends and Citizen of the Year Awards are open from Monday 31 August, joining nomination opportunities for the Youth Arts Award, Youth Service Award and Event of the Year Awards as part of the 2027 Australia Day Awards Ceremony.
Mayor Robert Taylor noted the annual Citizen of the Year and Living Legends awards are a highly regarded accolade for exceptional members of the Bathurst community.
“Since 2005, Councils across the state have recognised one remarkable citizen each year at the annual Australia Day ceremonies. This prestigious award honours a deserving member of Bathurst and recognises their outstanding contribution to our local community.
“The Living Legends Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and their capacity as a proven leader amongst their peers and for possessing a drive to help make our region a great place to live and visit. Every year, each of our Living Legends are honoured with a tree planted in the Living Legends Avenue of trees on Bradwardine Road, marking their legacy within our community.
“If you know an exceptional individual who has made great contributions to our Bathurst Region, this is a fantastic opportunity for their unsung efforts to be aptly recognised at our Australia Day Ceremony this coming January,” said Mayor Taylor.
Nominations for these two awards open Monday 31 August and close Friday 6 November 2026. All awards will be presented at the Australia Day Ceremony on Tuesday 26 January 2027.
