Flora, Fauna and Flight Opens at Carcoar Gallery

A Thousand Words Gallery welcomed visitors on Saturday 10 January for the opening of its summer exhibition Flora, Fauna and Flight, a celebration of skies, birds and the enduring beauty of the Australian countryside.

Running throughout the summer months, the exhibition showcased the richness and diversity of Australian flora and fauna, expansive skyscapes, birds captured mid-flight and bucolic rural landscapes that felt both familiar and quietly moving. The works reflected a deep connection to land and environment, offering viewers moments of stillness, movement and reflection.

The exhibition featured paintings by acclaimed artist Julianne Allcorn, alongside a thoughtfully curated selection of Australian artists, each highly skilled in their field and united by a shared appreciation for the natural world. Complementing the two-dimensional works were beautifully crafted ceramics by Rebecca Dowling and Maria Shaw, as well as distinctive jewellery pieces by Rebecca Price, adding depth and texture to the exhibition experience.

Located at 11 Icely Street, Carcoar, the gallery continued to strengthen its reputation as a welcoming destination for art, coffee and conversation. Visitors enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while sipping Fish River Roasters REVERB coffee and sampling scrumptious cakes, making the gallery visit as much a social experience as a visual one.

Flora, Fauna and Flight officially opened on Saturday 10 January and will continue to run throughout summer. The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday from 8.30am to 4pm, inviting locals and visitors alike to linger, explore and reconnect with the beauty of the Australian landscape.
