The Portland Art Purchase Society will be holding their 47th Annual Art Exhibition on the first weekend of March with a much anticipated return of the Opening Night Celebrations after the previous opening nights were postponed due to COVID.
The event showcases a great array of art and is always an engaging exhibition held in the historic Crystal Theatre building in Portland.
The prize theme category this year is “Clouds” and the committee looks forward to seeing the artists interpretation of the subject.
“The theme this year is Clouds, and after so much rain and storms and the resulting cloudy skies last year we are looking forward to seeing some stunning works,” said Chairperson, Rich Evans.
Along with the Themed prize section, sponsored by The Foundations, there is the Simply Drawing Prize sponsored by local artists Jo Penn and Lesley O’Shea. Another prize category has been added this year, The Packers Prize, which will be selected by the committee, this new prize will be named the Sue Banning Packers Prize, in honour of the Society’s former Chairperson Sue Banning who passed away late last year.
