Calling all Songwriters!

The Inland Sea of Sound is calling for songwriters from the Central West to submit their original songs for an exciting new highlight of the annual Bathurst festival.

Song writers can be of any age or level of experience but must reside in the Central West of NSW.

Eligible songs cannot have been previously professionally recorded or released. Song writers need to provide lyrics plus some form of melody (notated or recorded, for example a “phone recording”) and chord progression.

Up to 15 of the top songs will be selected by an industry panel to be performed live during the festival on Wednesday 23 February 2022 at a gala event at Keystone Bathurst.

On the night the songs will be backed by a Festival band made up of 6 leading Bathurst musicians.

Song writers may sing their own songs (maximum of a duo) or have their songs sung by selected young LEAP (Local Emerging Artist Program) performers.

Two winning songwriters, selected by the panel and by popular vote on the night, will receive a weekend studio recording package. Other prizes to be announced.

An online Q & A session will take place in early January to answer questions from prospective song writers about the guidelines of the competition. To be sent the time and a link please email bmec@bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Songs must be received by 5pm Friday 4 February 2022.

Lyrics and music should be emailed to bmec@bathurst.nsw.gov.au. Entrants should also include a completed entry form.
