The second runway at Bathurst Airport is being upgraded with the $2.8 million project forging ahead.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the NSW Government and Bathurst Regional Council was funding the work which involves sealing the runway which was previously only a gravel strip.
“The work means the Bathurst Airport can operate at greater capacity and that apart from the sealing of the 1300 metre long runway, also includes upgrading the taxiways and aprons,” he said.
“It also means there’s more room for emergency services to make use of the facilities as well as the capability to cater for flight training.”
“This is an investment in the future of Bathurst as a growing regional centre with the city the only airport in the Central West with two runways.”
