Carols at Tremain’s 2021 was another festive success for Mitchell Conservatorium.
500 free tickets were booked quickly by the Bathurst community, which ensured the December 12th event was within current Covid guidelines and filled the Tremain’s Mill space with the fabulous sights and sounds of Christmas.
After a year of nationwide event cancellations, Executive Director, Andrew Smith, said being able to provide Carols to the community was something special, “Despite some challenges with restrictions, this year’s event was sensational and really had the feeling of Christmas. There is nothing more uplifting than the joy of a community singing together.”
Mitchell Conservatorium staff formed the Carols band and the event’s MC was outgoing Executive Director, Dr. Graham Sattler.
Carol’s at Tremains was also broadcast live on YouTube, which enabled those who couldn’t attend to experience the Bathurst Christmas tradition in their own homes. Mr Smith said it was something they will continue to do in the future, “We have become aware of how important it is to make these events more accessible for the entire community. There was a lot of positive feedback from people who felt inclusion by being able to watch and sing along from a space that worked for themselves and their families.”
The Carols at Tremain’s event is still available on the MitCon YouTube channel. It is planned to move back to it’s traditional home in Machattie Park next year.
