A Fresh Season for You, Your Skin & Your Wellbeing

Beauty with Karla – Macquarie Medi Spa

Spring is my favourite season of the year, and beautiful Bathurst is already putting on a show. The blossoms are out, the days are getting longer and there’s that wonderful feeling of a fresh season ahead.

While we often think about cleaning out our homes and wardrobes at this time of year, don’t forget your bathroom cupboards, skincare and makeup drawers too.

Skincare has an expiry date (just like food!), particularly active products and, importantly, sunscreen. Check expiry dates and take a good look at anything that’s been sitting around too long. Once opened, products can oxidise and become less effective, so use them while they’re fresh rather than saving them for “one day”.

Makeup doesn’t last forever either. If you’ve had something for two or three years, it’s time to say goodbye! Mascaras should ideally be replaced every three to four months, while older lipsticks and other products can change texture or develop a noticeable smell.

Spring is also the perfect excuse to get outside. We’re incredibly lucky in the Central West with our beautiful river walks, walking tracks and the Blue Mountains not far away. Getting outdoors and moving can do wonders for our wellbeing. Be sun smart, snake smart and, if you’re wearing headphones, stay aware of where you’re stepping.

September also brings R U OK? Day, although I believe checking in should happen every day. Check on a friend, neighbour or loved one. Organise a walk, barbecue or catch-up and reconnect.

And then comes Pinktober! You’ll see Macquarie Medi Spa turning pink as we once again help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer charities.

So, here’s to getting outside, getting social and enjoying everything this beautiful Central West spring has to offer!
