Growing to Give More: Nanna’s Touch Finds a New Home

For more than 13 years, Sue Murdoch has grown Nanna’s Touch into a caring support network for vulnerable people in our community, meeting local needs with compassion and dedication. What initially began as an act of kindness and hope centred on social inclusion has grown into a broad range of programs, activities, and services for the wider community.

For the past 7 years, Nanna’s Touch has operated from 5 Albert Street, Lithgow. This site is owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, whose ongoing support and encouragement have helped its vision become a valued asset to the whole community.

Nanna’s Touch Community Connections Lithgow registered as an incorporation in Dec 2022, they then became a charity in Feb 2025, to support its growth, enabling the food security sector of the organisation to expand and better assist local people in need. Since officially launching their Community Kitchen in August 2023, followed shortly after by Friday Healthy Hampers.

Their team of volunteers have constantly seen a growing need for these services as more families struggle to make ends meet.

Nanna’s Touch’s committee has long recognised the need to expand its services, but the shared Albert Street venue was unable to provide the time or space needed to support that growth. Without a more suitable location, those plans remained on hold.

Nanna’s Touch has recently received an offer that gives it the opportunity to bring its new vision to life, with a silent benefactor funding a rental property for an initial period to help establish its new goals. They are excited to enter this new phase and hope clients and supporters will join them on their journey ahead.

This move will allow Nanna’s Touch to expand on the services and support they already provide, including Monday-to-Friday access, a wider range of Wellbeing programs, Community Kitchen hot meals available twice a week, the introduction of a Frozen Meal Program, and an expanded Healthy Hamper service.

Please help Nanna’s Touch celebrate their new phase as they welcome you to their new venue at 1/131 Mort St, Lithgow. With doors opening on Friday 10th July after a short break to transition to their new premises, they also invite you to their Open Day on Tuesday 21st July at 10 am.
