After a three-year hiatus, Lithgow City Council Library service recently celebrated the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week with school visits, special Storytimes and a competition.
Since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia has been encouraging libraries and schools to come together to celebrate children’s literature, culminating in the annual Book Week event. Lithgow City Council Library staff have been out and about visiting schools and hosting visits to the Library. The Library also ran a very successful Book Week competition with entries received from schools across the Local Government Area.
On Friday 26 August 2022, the Mayor Maree Statham and Deputy Mayor Cassandra Coleman were on hand to present Book Week competition prizes to the winners and runners. “It is lovely to see so many smiling faces and excited children in the library again, and I would like to congratulate all the students who entered the competition,” said the Mayor.
With a great selection of books for children of all ages, DVDs and other resources, the Lithgow Library and its branches are great places to spend some time during the school holidays or after school. Keep an eye out for some after school activities over the next few weeks and of course a great school holiday program.
