NSW Artists Look to the Future

Creatives from across regional NSW are being given the opportunity to develop artwork that shares their perspective on the future for the regions.

Regional Futures is a two-year statewide creative project funded by Create NSW and delivered by the NSW Regional Arts Network which represents 15 members organisations that support and promote artists and creative practice across regional NSW.

An Expression of Interest process is currently open and gives artists across all artforms the opportunity to be involved in this unique future visioning project that places artists at the centre of the conversation. Applications close 28 March.

At the heart of the project is collaboration across sectors bringing artists and other experts together, exploring the future of the regions.

Newly appointed Executive Director of Arts OutWest, Kylie Shead, is excited by the opportunity for the region’s artists.

“Our region has a wealth of creative talent and Regional Futures offers an opportunity to be a part of a larger project that will connect them into a state-wide group of artists,” Ms Shead Said.

“Arts OutWest is particularly interested in artists whose work explores sense of place, their environment – focusing on the NSW Central West – and issues associated with their local environment,” Ms Shead said.

The artists selected from each region will become a part of a group of 15 creatives from across the state developing new work that will ultimately be showcased in Sydney in the second year of the project.

Online information sessions about the project will be held on Monday 21 March at 12noon and at 6pm. Register here for a session: https://www.regionalfutures.net/register
