The Inner Wheel Club of Bathurst held another successful walk to support research into the uses of umbilical cord blood.
This year the Inner Wheel ladies were joined by family, friends and community members for a leisurely walk along the banks of Macquarie River and enjoyed a picnic morning tea afterwards and we sincerely thank our supporters and sponsors.
Inner Wheel Clubs across Australia held similar walks and since 2003 the combined funds raised have totalled over 3 million dollars and has funded 53 research grants. This research has enabled the progress of treatments for blood cancers, Type 1 Diabetes, neonatal brain injury and prostate cancer. More recently the grants have contributed to the discovery of new treatments for severe lung inflammation due to COVID 19.
The Bathurst Inner Wheel Club welcome new members who are keen to make friends and have some fun. The club support charities improving conditions for women and children both locally and further afield as well as Cord Blood research.
The club meet for lunch on the second Wednesday of each month at 12 noon at Panthers and enjoy companionship, guest speakers and other activities. Between meetings they get together for casual coffee mornings and social gatherings. If you would like to join them you will be warmly welcomed.
