Game Changer for Motorsport Park

Deputy Premier of NSW Paul Toole was on hand at last Sunday’s motorkhana held by the Lithgow District Car Club to present a cheque for $170,000 to supply and install 755 lineal metres of safety barrier at their Yvonne Martyn Memorial Motorsport Park at Portland.

The access roadway will double as a 600 metre hillclimb course which was dedicated to past president and multi Australian,NSW,Victorian and South Australian hillclimb champion David Tutton by Mr Toole.

The motorsport park will not only feature the David Tutton Hillclimb Course but a rallysprint course along with the khanacross and motorkhana area that now hosts events.

Sunday’s six double run course motorkhana was won by club president David James at the wheel of Justin Henry’s newly acquired Mini with Bathurst’s Harrison Hudson second in his shared Subaru WRX with young Volkan Gunduz of Oberon third outright and the junior class winner in his Lancer.

Phoebe Hudson was the fastest female in the WRX  while Josh Hunter was second in the junior class  at the wheel of his Lancer with Toby Gough third in his Subaru WRX.

Young Riley Sutherland drove the Toyota Camry club car in his first ever event to take out the encouragement award in a close decision from Lachlan Fishlock who also made his motorsport debut and shared the Camry.

The Lithgow District Car Club would like to thank Paul Toole for his continuing support of the motorsport park and our BBQ sponsors Williams Butchery Portland,Golden Sunshine Bakery Lithgow and GIC Welding and Engineering, thank you all so much for your very valued support.
