Whether you’re a seasoned green thumb or someone who simply enjoys spending time outdoors, the Lithgow and District Garden Club Inc. is proving that gardening is about far more than flowers and vegetables—it’s about friendship, learning and building a stronger community.
Meeting on the first Monday of every month at Club Lithgow, the not-for-profit group brings together people with a shared appreciation for gardens, horticulture and the natural environment in a welcoming and relaxed setting. The monthly gatherings are a chance to exchange ideas, learn new skills and enjoy the company of others who understand the simple pleasure of watching something grow.
The club’s objectives extend well beyond the backyard fence. Members are passionate about supporting civic beauty, encouraging sustainable gardening practices and helping protect and conserve the region’s natural resources. It’s not uncommon for gardeners to arrive with spare seedlings, cuttings, seeds or excess homegrown produce to swap with others. Advice is freely given, gardening successes are celebrated and challenges are tackled together, making the club an invaluable resource for anyone wanting to learn more.
The Lithgow and District Garden Club is also proudly affiliated with Garden Clubs of Australia, connecting members to a nationwide network of passionate gardeners. The Lithgow and District Garden Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 1.00pm at Club Lithgow, 2C Lithgow Street, Lithgow, with meetings generally running for 60 to 90 minutes before members stay on for an informal chat.
