Millthorpe Fire Fair Ready to Warm the Heart of Winter

One of the Central West’s favourite winter celebrations is set to return next month, with the Millthorpe Fire Fair once again bringing light, warmth and community spirit to the village on Friday, 7 August.

Running from 5 pm to 9 pm along Pym and Elliott Streets, the Fire Fair is a highlight of the Orange Region Fire Festival, a month-long celebration showcasing the region’s exceptional food, wine, produce and cool-climate experiences during winter.

The Millthorpe event has built a strong reputation for transforming the village into a vibrant winter destination, where locals and visitors alike can wander the heritage streets, enjoy great entertainment and experience the welcoming atmosphere that makes country communities so special.

A fantastic line-up of live music featuring Mix Tapes, WCKES & Watts, Harry Carter and Abstract Compulsion will provide the soundtrack to the evening, while a variety of local food and beverage vendors will be serving up everything from hearty winter meals to sweet treats and locally crafted drinks. Winter market stalls, family-friendly rides and games will round out a program designed to appeal to visitors of all ages.

The Fire Fair is also a wonderful opportunity to discover everything Millthorpe has to offer. Visitors are encouraged to explore the village’s boutique shops, galleries and hospitality venues, many of which will be welcoming festival-goers throughout the evening. Events like these play an important role in supporting local businesses, particularly during the quieter winter months, while showcasing the region to visitors from across New South Wales and beyond.

Behind the scenes, an enormous amount of work goes into delivering an event of this scale. The dedication of the organising committee, volunteers, sponsors, performers, emergency services and local businesses is what makes the Fire Fair such a success year after year. Their commitment creates an experience that not only attracts thousands of visitors but also strengthens the sense of pride within the Millthorpe community.

Just as importantly, the event simply wouldn’t exist without the people who brave the winter chill to attend. Every ticket purchased, meal enjoyed, market stall visited, and local business supported helps ensure the Fire Fair continues to grow and thrive for years to come. Tickets are $15 for adults, $3 for children, with free entry for children under five. So rug up, gather your family and friends, and join the community for what promises to be another memorable celebration of winter in one of the Central West’s most charming villages.
