Mystery Location

Mrs Heritage is a great gardener. She wants me to feature more heritage gardens in the BHM column. So, I could get in real trouble (nothing new) because I don’t think this is what she had in mind.

But it is a heritage garden, or at least the edge is. In town, hidden away next to a major heritage landmark, the location is probably not recognised by 95% of Bathurstians, but it includes history both behind and opposite. It’s amazing though that the edging hasn’t been nicked by some tea leaf – well done Bathurst. You might think it is nothing of note, but it could be that this Victorian cast metal rail is very important. Maybe.

Mrs H also asked me to mention another garden – the small but excellent Colonial Garden at Old Government Cottage in Stanley Street, easily viewed over a similar but higher iron front fence. The garden was rebuilt by the Bathurst Gardeners Club for Bathurst’s 2015 bicentenary, and the Cottage is run by Bathurst District Historical Society.
