Oberon’s Shakespeare Festival coming this March

The Oberon Shakespeare Festival for 2026 is not far away – Oberon will be a hive of activity from Thursday 5th March through to Saturday 7th March 2026. On Thursday, our actors will make a private visit to both Columbia Age Care Home and Oberon Hospital to visit the residents and sprinkle some Shakespearean magic into their day.

On Friday, 6th March, the two principal actors will execute a School Incursion of Macbeth at Oberon High School. Students from Bathurst High, Kelso High and Lithgow High will join with Oberon High School for a presentation of key scenes from Macbeth and a Q&A to assist with their study of this classic Shakespearean play.

Then, from 5.30pm through to 10.00pm, our popular Feast & Performance will take place at The Malachi.  This is a fun event featuring a beautiful feast, some competitions and superb mini performances highlighting love and romance, in all it’s forms, from Shakespeare’s canon of work. Bookings for this event are open NOW – visit our website to make a booking.

On Saturday morning, 7th March, we’re collaborating with Oberon Community Market at the Oberon Showground, to bring a 1 hour workshop on Shakespearean sword fighting which demonstrates the techniques used in this unique art form followed by a 1 hour opportunity to meet the actors who will be playing Romeo & Juliet later on in the evening.

Finally, a full performance of Romeo and Juliet will take place at The Common from 6.30pm. This is an open air performance. Entrance will be by donation to Rotary and everyone will need to bring their own blanket or camp chair. The performance will be preceded by some activities for families and a Rotary BBQ between 5 – 6pm. Everyone is welcome to this special event.

We’re indebted to the actors, Come You Spirits, for making this all happen in Oberon. Check out our website for more details: oberonrotary.com.au
