Momentum growing behind Sunny Corner Wind Farm Near Neighbour Program

Latest News

Sunny Corner Wind Farm

Thought you might be interested as the latest data shows momentum behind the wind farm’s Near Neighbour Program is growing, with almost two-thirds (63%) of eligible landowners registering their interest in joining the Near Neighbour Program.

This is significant because:

  • It shows the majority of near neighbours are interested in participating in the wind farm’s development – there are over 240 eligible landowners in Sunny Corner, Yetholme, Dark Corner, Meadow Flat and within 2.5 kilometres of a proposed turbine
  • The Near Neighbour Program is designed to share financial benefits of the proposed wind farm, with $100 million available in cash payments over the project’s 32-year life
  • The growing interest in the Near Neighbour Program follows the release of an additional payment option for local residents, with the following now available:
    • An Accelerated Payment option – where residents receive payments over 15-years
    • A Core Payment option – where residents receive payments over 32 years
  • The program closes on 28 February 2026 – with over five weeks until the deadline we could see many more residents seek to participate in the Near Neighbour Program

In terms of a project update:

  • The development of the proposed wind farm’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is continuing with the EIS expected to be lodged and on public exhibition later this year
  • The Someva team are continuing with their community engagement and listening – with the team in the community every week over the coming weeks
