Summer Truffle Season returns to RedGround near Oberon

Summer in the Oberon region brings with it a unique experience that many locals and visitors now mark on their calendars. RedGround Australia has opened its Summer Truffle Season, offering intimate tasting experiences that invite guests to slow down, savour the flavours of the land and discover the surprising richness of Australian-grown truffles — even in the warmer months.

Set within Oberon’s cool mountain landscape, RedGround has become known for its cellar door–style approach to truffle appreciation. Rather than rushing through a tasting, guests are guided through aromas, textures and pairings in an unhurried, sensory way. The experience highlights how the region’s crisp mornings, basalt-rich soils and gentle seasonal rhythms shape the depth and character of the truffles produced here.

While winter remains the most well-known truffle season, RedGround’s Jill O’Grady saw an opportunity to showcase something equally special during the warmer months.

“We find that the Winter season is our most popular time and books up really quickly but we know have so much to offer during the Summer time as well,” said Jill. “The Summer Truffle Tasting sessions are a great way to experience RedGround and learn a bit more about the truffle process, while enjoying some delicious bites.”

Summer truffles may be lesser known than their winter counterparts, but at RedGround they are treated with the same care and curiosity. Guests learn how truffles are grown, harvested and prepared, while enjoying tastings that showcase their versatility across savoury and simple dishes. It is an experience designed for adults who enjoy food, regional produce and the slower, more thoughtful pace that Oberon is loved for.

The Summer Truffle Tasting is priced at $45 per person, making it an accessible premium experience for couples, small groups of friends and visitors planning a weekend away. Limited numbers ensure the sessions remain relaxed and personal, allowing plenty of time to explore, taste and ask questions.

Each tasting becomes as much about connection as flavour — connection to landscape, seasonal cycles and local producers who are quietly shaping Oberon’s growing food culture. The property itself adds to the charm, offering views, fresh country air and an atmosphere that encourages guests to linger a little longer.

Sessions run across the summer months through to the end of March, with advance bookings essential due to the intimate group sizes. Many people now choose to build their Oberon visit around the truffle experience, pairing it with local cafes, scenic drives, farm stays or time simply unwinding in the fresh mountain air.

Bookings are essential and places are limited. For more information or to secure a spot, visit www.redground.com.au/truffle-hunts or contact Jill on 0457 775 297.
