The Halloween Carnivale Street Party is this weekend!
Get ready – Halloween Carnivale is taking over Main Street, Saturday 25 October from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your visit:
When You Arrive
Head to one of our Info Booths (one at Cook Street Plaza, the other at the corner of Eskbank and Main Streets) to grab your Trick or Treat Passport and a site guide map. This will help you navigate the event, find your favourite stalls, collect stamps to earn your free lolly bag, and discover all the spooky surprises we’ve got in store!
What To Expect
• Live performances from local musicians, dancers, and circus-style acts across three performance areas.
• Roving entertainers and interactive installations throughout the street.
• Many Main Street Businesses will be open late so please pop in for a visit and support local. You will find heaps of great food offerings, unique retailers and more!
• Lots of market stalls with handmade goods, Halloween-themed items, and local crafts.
• Pop-Up food vendors with all kinds of tasty treats.
• Amusements and kids’ activities, including obstacle courses, a super slide, circus play space, reptile tent and a creepy crawly tent.
• The Wheel of Misfortune – a fun, free activity at Cook Street Plaza with prizes and a chance to share your feedback.
• The Halloween Art Prize – explore creative works from local artists and vote for your favourite.
Accessibility & Inclusion
We’ve worked hard to make this event welcoming for everyone. You will find:
• Accessible parking and marked drop-off zones available near entrances.
• Wheelchair-accessible toilets and flat, non-slip pathways throughout the site.
• A sensory-friendly Chill Out Zone offers a quiet space for anyone needing a break.
• Large-print, high-contrast signage and visual timetables.
• All major areas, including performance zones, and amenities, are wheelchair accessible.
• Clearly marked First Aid Medics will be on hand to assist if needed.
• If you would like a map in advance to plan your access – please reach out.
Getting There
Public parking is available nearby, but limited – arrive early, use public transport, carpool or consider walking if possible. If you have good mobility, please leave closer parking positions for those who require them if you can.
Helpful Tips
– Costumes are encouraged! There will be a costume fashion parade and prizes for Best Dressed!
– Please make sure that children are well supervised at all times. Event Assistants and Info Stalls will have wrist bands available that you can use to put your contact phone number on small children but make sure you have your own plan in place to keep track of your children in large crowds.
– This event will have a large number of trained security personnel as well as a strong police presence, anti-social behaviour is not welcome. This is a family-friendly event that is designed to be safe and inclusive for all.
– If you want to keep partying past 8pm – consider a ticket to the community organised Halloween After Dark at the Union Theatre: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1398940
