Australia Day activities in 2017 will focus on Eskbank House with other celebrations also arranged across the area.
Eskbank House and Museum is the perfect venue to host Lithgow’s official Australia Day Ceremony, entertainment and activities on Thursday, 26 January 2017.
“It is a privilege to be a part of the official Australia Day Ceremony for 2017. Presenting the NSW Local Citizenship Awards and welcoming our newest Australian Citizens to Lithgow is at the centre of this special occasion”, said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Stephen Lesslie.
Giving the official Australia Day speech will be the Australia Day Ambassador, Mr Jeremy Jones AM. Mr Jones received the 2016 Stepan Kerkyasharian Medal for promoting Community Harmony and has been widely recognised for his contribution to multiculturalism and inter-faith movements.
The Australia Day Citizenship ceremony will commence at 10am at Eskbank House and Museum, located on Bennet Street in Lithgow. The Lions Club will serve free tea, coffee and other refreshments, and the Lithgow Highland Pipe Band will entertain guests as they gather for the ceremony.
Australia Day activities will also take place in other villages across the LGA, including Portland, Wallerawang and Rydal.
