Sun shines on Portland’s Annual Mind Body Spirit Fair

Last weekend saw the 2nd annual Mind Body Spirit Fair open its doors to over 350 people, in the beautiful Crystal Theatre in Portland. The weather took a turn for the better bringing out lots of people into the winter sunshine.

Organiser Kellie Evans, said she was incredibly thrilled with the turnout, saying, “We’ve seen people travel from inner Sydney, right across the mountains and out to Bathurst as well as many locals. Its been the best attendance yet!”

There was Bowen Therapy and reflexology, seated massage and many market stalls, along with the very popular Cafe (a big shout out to Portland’s Rob and Tammie Stephenson and their pizzas – definitely a crowd favourite!)

It was great to see the focus was on attracting mainly local business’s to participate. Even the lovely Mediums that were giving psychic readings were locals.“All but 1 of our vendors are from the Central West and the one that is out of town, actually grew up in Lithgow and have family still living here so we will claim them as locals,” Kellie said

The feedback received from attendees over the weekend was extremely positive and Facebook’s pages were buzzing all weekend with supportive comments and great pictures of guests having a blast. The event was even attended by Mayor Maree Statham and Councillor Peter Pilbeam.

Kellie was quick to mention that the weekend wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local business community, the people that attended and the amazing sponsors. The lovely girls from Westfund manned their stall all weekend chatting with people and donating raffle prizes, Dr Shawki and the team from Portland Medical Centre also sponsored the event. Roy, Deb and the girls from Guardian Chemist in Portland and Wallerawang chatted with everyone as well as giving blood pressure tests and Paul and Barbara from Good Earth couldn’t attend, but donated an amazing voucher for the raffle. A very big thank you to these local business’s that are proud to sponsor and support such a wonderful annual Fair.

Last of all, Kellie wanted to thank the lovely people that volunteered to help out with the event. Portland local Paige Beck and Lithgow mother and daughter team Karyn & Emma Mitchell (from Respectfully in Main Street) for their amazing support.

“Without the help of these brilliant women, the weekend just wouldn’t have been the success it was,” Kellie said

Scheduled again for July 2017, Kellie has stated that the hope is to grow again with more markets stalls in the Mind Body Spirit theme as well as booking in some meditation workshops and tutorials on numerology. “We hope to grow in what we offer as well as the attendance each year.” This event definitely one to put in your calendar for next year.
