Social Justice Group holding a social evening in Portland

The Portland Lithgow Wallerawang Catholic Social Justice Group are holding an East Timor 2015 information and social evening on Thursday, 11th June 2015: 6pm – 8.30pm at the Mary O’Leary Centre, 43 Willewa St, Portland

The guest speaker for the evening is Libby Bleakley.

Libby is a member of tile Blackheath Rotary Club and is the Project Manager for the East Timor Learning Centre for Youth Project. Libby has worked as a police officer in Lithgow and during this period she was instrumental in organising the “Ride for Respect’’ program. She has recently worked with the Australian Federal Police in East Timar providing humanitarian service. Presently Libby works as a Sergeant of Police at Mascot Airport, Sydney.

The Project she will be talking about has been developed to establish a facility for the Timorese youth and community that will develop skills, character and leadership. A large focus will be on empowering the youth to take ownership in progressing the development of their country, gender equality and promoting respect for women

A selection of food from the region will be served at 6pm ($5 dollar donation towards the cost of the meal appreciated)
