On Sunday I had the pleasure of taking my oldest son and daughter to see the Lithgow Musical Society’s production of Evita at the Union Theatre in Lithgow.
This was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to take my kids to see a local production and to say we were all very impressed was an understatement!
While there were a couple of “political” questions from Tom – prompted by the story he was seeing on stage – he really enjoyed the story and was quite focussed on the whole show. Olivia was totally taken with the amazing dresses and costumes and has now decided to become a singer/actress/hairdresser!
Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was a wonderfully told story with terrific music, excellent talent and a really great production. Meegan Fitzgerald portrayed Eva Peron with grace and passion while the talented David Webb as Che Guevara excelled and was entertaining to watch. The leads were supported very admirably by Paul Goodwin as Colonel Peron, Matt Trounce as Magaldi, Sarah Lewis as The Mistress and Laurin Shirt who plays many roles along with the great ensemble cast. Musical arrangement was by Dianne O’Sullivan. Veteran Director Rae Burton must be so incredibly proud of her cast & crew!
Meegan said, “Im so proud to be part of such a great show and big production. Its been really hard work training but Evita is such an amazing part. I hope everyone can come to see the show!”
If you haven’t already seen the show, head down to the Union Theatre over the next two weekends. Evita is a fantastic production!
