Lithgow City Rangers give a valiant effort against the Mudgee Wolves

By Chris Anlezark

Round 1 of the Bathurst District Football Competition saw Lithgow City Rangers take on the very strong Mudgee Wolves at Rangers Park.

The opening 10 mins of the game saw both teams working very hard to take control of the match.

It was Rangers that had the first very good chance of the game to score from a excellent corner from Will Gausden that saw Tim Gavin flying in from the left hand side of the field to smash a great header only to be saved by the Mudgee Goal keeper.

From that point on Mudgee really stepped up and took control of the game and played some really smart football and domination position.

At half time Rangers were down 3-0 and searching for some answers and with the Injury toll count at 3 coach Chris Anlezark made a few changes leading into the second half.

Rangers finally found some consistency and started to attack well with young Josh Borg taking control of the midfield.

Other standouts for Rangers were man of the match Blake Holmes Playing at the back and Broady forbes Goal Keeper, both Players making their senior debut for the club.

It was never going to be and easy match for Rangers and even with a better second half the final score was 4 – 0 .

Rangers  would like to thank Major sponsors Wallerawang bowling Club and new sponsor Craig Fitzpatrick for there support in 2015 season.

Next week will see Rangers take on Cowra Eagles at Cowra starting at 1pm.
