The end of a great season for Portland Junior Cricket

Portland Bluetongues Under 10’s travelled to Bathurst for the last time on Saturday to take on a very strong Blaney side, finishing a very strong season.

Unfortunately, Portland weren’t able to come away with a win. Portland batted first, with Thomas Huijser and Braith Green top scorers, also batting well was Joel Lamb, Conner Miles and Logan Ward. Portland Scored a good 107 runs.

The best for the Bluetongues with the ball were Cody Phillips, Nate Green, Ethen & Deacon Cutting, and Ben Mcculkin bowling Blaney out for 108.

Coach Shane Green would like to thank all his players for turning up week in, week out, and really enjoying themselves while improving every week – progressing from not winning a game before Christmas to only loosing 2 games after Christmas.

He’d  also like to thank all the parents for giving up their Saturday mornings to take their children to Bathurst and Blaney for their games. A big thanks also goes to Andrew Ward for umpiring every week and to Brendan Miles, Troy Cameron and Scott Handley for helping out with the scoring.

Coach Shane Green would also like to thank all people who purchased tickets for raffles this year, and a big thanks to Glenn Speirs for donating two loads of fire wood to raffle off.

Next year Portland Junior Cricket will field an Under 10’s again, and they are also going to try getting an Under 12’s started, so if there is anyone interested in have a run next year, please contact Shane Green on 0400 903 934 or email
