Season Completed for Portland Junior Touch

Portland Touch Football completed their Junior Competition on the 12th March with a BBQ and presentation held at the touch fields.

It was another successful year for the juniors with over 50 juniors competing and learning new and valuable skills to take with them into another year of juniors, and for some, to take with them as they step into the senior competitions.

The main focus of the presentations was on enjoyment of the game of Touch Football not about winning and losing. All children received a bucket hat for their participation in the competition.

Competition organisers, Wendy Whitney and Rhonda Dunleavy, thanked all the children for turning up and having fun over the past 6 months. They also thanked and presented bucket hats to regular referees Brad Ford and Shane Green. They made special thanks to the coaches who assisted with the teams over the season. Coaches who helped out were Rhonda Dunleavy, Shane Green, Cody McManus, Hayden Taylor, Riley Walsh, Monique Neville, Jodie Whitney, Luke McManus and Dave Caddis.

Trophies were presented to the Highest Tryscorers which were received by Taylor Bennett 5-8yr Girls, Nate Green 5-8yr Boys, Tabitha Neville 9-13yr Girls and Brayden McCann 9-13yr Boys.

Senior Vice President of Portland Touch Football, Jason Whitney, thanked Wendy and Rhonda for their efforts in running the competition. He also thanked all the juniors who participated and all those who assisted with the teams. He wished all those players who will step up to Senior Touch Football next year the very best of luck and welcomed all the other players back to juniors again next season.

The future of Portland Touch Football is looking very promising with some real talent coming through the junior ranks.
