Portland Under 10’s traveled to Bathurst last Saturday to take on the very strong St Pats Blue Team.
St Pats won the toss, sending Portland into bat, which was a surprise to Portland as the ground was very wet and St Pat’s bowling deteriorated very quickly.
The best for Portland with the bat was Kye Cameron, again hitting some classy shots and scoring a good 21. Close behind with the batting were Ethen Cutting, Tomas Huijser, Deacon Cutting and Nate Green. Portland scored a total of 67.
The best for Portland with the ball was Thomas Huijser, 2 for 2 during his over’s and Joel Lamb 4 for 3 during his over’s. Close behind them with the ball, picking up wickets were Nate Green, Ethen Cutting, Cody Philips, and Kye Cameron, bowling St Pats Blue out for 67.
With Portland getting 11 wicket and St Pats getting 6 wicket, Portland Under 10’s won the game, which makes that four from four wins this year.
Coach Shane Green has said every week how much this little team from Portland have improved, but when the other coach came up to him after the game and made a comment on how much they had improved, that was something! He wonders what these Bathurst teams are going to think when 90% of the little Portland cricket side are still playing under 10’s in 3 years.
