The Portland Art Show is set to open next Friday 6th March and, in its 39th year, is showing no signs of slowing down.
This year there are over 300 paintings being hung in what has become one of the largest art shows of its kind west of Sydney. Locals and visitors attending the show are always impressed with the quality of the art on display. The art show opening night is an opportunity to mingle with the art community and art lovers from a wide area. It is always a well attended event and usually sees a number of sales of the more desirable pieces each year.
One little known fact about the Portland Art Purchase Society is that monies raised are given back to the community, particularly toward schools programs that promote the arts in our region.
It is a weekend that sees many visitors in the village of Portland and, in good news for locals and visitors alike, there will be 2 new eateries open in town.
So if you are looking for something to do next weekend, the Portland Art show should be high on your list of things to do.
