A great opening for Salud at the Tin Shed

Last Friday night saw the opening of local favourite Salud in their new home at the Tin Shed.

After months of renovation the space was finally ready to begin serving the food that they were renowned for in their old location at the Courthouse hotel.

As you would expect the food was amazing. One thing that was obvious is Tania’s commitment to health and good quality produce. The serving sizes focused more on quality than quantity, with a layering of flavours that truly surprised. That’s not to say that anyone left hungry, I actually couldn’t eat dessert on our visit. (Too much of their delectable sourdough and dips as a starter possibly?)

The entree I chose for the evening was the Kangaroo Sliders, mini burgers with a spiced kangaroo pat tie and beetroot relish. I followed this with a crispy pork belly and thai noodle salad. The sharpness of the dressing on the salad paired beautifully with the Pork Belly. Those that joined me for dinner enjoyed amazing grilled prawns for an entree, and both the barramundi and the proscuttio wrapped chicken for mains.

The desserts that passed our table en route to diners who were smart enough to leave room for them looked amazing, and according to the other diners were ‘absolutely delicious’

The space at the Tin Shed has a great ambience while still allowing for a conversation at the table.

The best compliment I could possibly give the owner Tania, is that it is very different for Lithgow, and that is a great thing.

Salud has set the bar for dining in the region, and with them open for breakfast lunch and dinner, and still serving their locally famous hole in the wall coffee, I am sure that this will be only the beginning for what will fast become the hottest place in town.
