Netball Update

Round 10 – 21 June May 2014

Division 3
Workies Little Mix v Workies Fireworks
Little Mix defeated Fireworks 26-13 in a great game that showed both side’s skill and determination on the court. Brooke Dean showed accuracy when shooting, with Amy Thompson feeding the ball well into the goal circle. Fireworks Marni Brown, Brielle Mendham and Lauren Field were all strong in defence working tirelessly until the end of the game.

Workies Mocking Jays v Wang Warriors
The game between Mocking jays and Wang Warriors was a wonderful demonstration of skill and sportsmanship, with Mocking Jays winning 36-18. Both teams played hard, with strong communication between players a key to strong drives down the court. Mocking jays led at the third quarter, however Wang made a strong come back in the fourth quarter. The following players deserve particular mention: Mocking jays Miranda Swift as Centre fed the goal circle well and Madisun Brown played well returning from injury. Wang warriors Emma Sheehan and Carmen Schindler played well in attack. Special thanks to the umpires Monique Rust and Leanne Houlison.

Division 4
Flames were the winners against Dragonflies 39-6 with Abbey Dean demonstrating skill in both goal attack and centre. Callie Capomolla continued to defend well, while Jordan Parsons showed accuracy when shooting. Dragonflies showed their determination when playing with great defence from Kasey Besetimoala and lovely shooting from Emily Burt.

Division 5
Kitty Kats played well as team moving the ball around the court well and getting 5 goals for their effort. Shelby McManus and Dakota Morcom shot well, with Charlotte Elliot demonstrating good defence. Wang Tigers had a fantastic game with Emma Rushworth playing well in centre and Tayla Bennett having a great game in shooter.

Pink Panthers v Workies Diamonds
Great team effort with lots of passing by the Diamonds this week, complemented by Emily Healy’s lovely shooting. Josephine Smith had a great game for the Pink Panthers, with wonderful defence by Monique Gearside.

The competition is now on a break for the July school holidays and the competition will resume on 19 July with round 11.
