Things to do this June Long Weekend

With most of this June long weekend expected to give us some lovely winter sun, why not become an honorary tourist and support our local attractions? There’s plenty to choose from to fill a day or two. Most of the places are run by the fantastic volunteer network that are kindly giving their time to allow us all to experience the attractions. Reacquaint yourself and your family with our local treasures and discover why Lithgow really is such a beautiful region.

Small Arms Factory Museum
69 Methven St, Lithgow Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am to 4pm. Visitor admission is $10 per adult, Concession $7, Kids (under 14) $5 and Kids under 5 free

Blast Furnace Site
Inch St, Lithgow Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday Free

Hartley Post Office Cafe
Old Bathurst Rd, Hartley Come in for a lovely cuppa and homemade cakes. Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am to 4pm

Eskbank House and Museum
Cnr Inch and Bennett Sts, Lithgow Open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Visitor admission is $10 per adult, Concession $7, Kids (under 14) $5 and Kids under 5 free Admission is $5.70 per adult, Concession $4.65, Kids (5-17yrs) $2.70 and Kids under 5 free or Residents of LGA admission $2.65 per adult, Concession $2.10, Kids (5-17yrs) $2.10 and Kids under 5 free

State Mine Heritage Park and Spectra Vision State Mine
Gully Rd, Lithgow (off Atkinson St) Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am to 4pm Group bookings by arrangement on 6353 1513 and are $5 per person Admission is $5 per adult, Concession $3, Kids $2 and Families $12

Glow Worm Tunnel
From Zig Zag Railway on Chifley Rd Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday Free

Hartley Historical Site
Check out the Courthouse, Visitor Site and St Bernards Church To book a tour of the Courthouse or Church (minimum of 4 people & a small cost) call 6355 2117 Visitor Site open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 1pm then 2pm to 4:20pm

Newnes Hotel Kiosk & Museum
Off the Castlereagh Highway, Newnes Bushwalking and nature spotting then visit the Kiosk for a snack. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 9am to 6pm Free

National Parks and Lookouts
There are a range of parks and look outs that make the perfect backdrop for a picnic. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday Free

Surrounding Villages
Tarana, Capertee, Rydal, Glen Davis, Lake Lyell The amazing Wolgan River near Newnes Hotel & Kiosk.
