Carl Hansen is off to State Rugby

Lithgow Public School Vice Captain Carl Hansen is off to his second State rugby championships in two years. After a great effort last year at No. 4 in the tight five of PSSA’s Western Region team, Carl earned a position with Central West Blue Bulls Rugby U12s. The team has already had numerous trial game wins throughout the Central West, and competed in the NSW Country Championships in Nowra in May, finishing a creditable third from eight teams. Carl has bagged the No. 3 jersey this year, competing against boys from Mudgee, Trangie and Dubbo, just to name a few. He has dragged out the wool bails again to practice his explosive style of rucking, cleaning out and tackling, and his strength up front has seen him cross the line regularly, with up to four opposition players on his back. Timely advice from his grandad, who played rugby in Sydney, has helped too. The U12 Bulls will be playing State rugby over the long weekend in Camden, and are up against Warringah and then Manly on Day 1. It will be a hard slog, with the Bulls training only occasionally due to the great distances families need to travel.
