You only have to drive through Portland on a Wednesday night and see a local touch competition with over 200 people running around the fields, to know that the sporting spirit extends to all edges of this community.
As the summer seasons draw to a close and we all get ready to trade our cricket whites for footy boots, there is a sense of excitement in the air. Maybe it’s the finals season that is upon us in cricket and touch and other summer sports, maybe it is the anticipation of the season to come, but whatever it is, the Village Voice will be right there with you along the way.
As a new publication and a community based business we need your help to get the stories of your competition, your club and your teams out there. We don’t care if it’s the U6 soccer team, there is always something to celebrate in sport and we are here to support you and get those stories out there to keep the local sporting spirit alive.
Each week, we will focus on the achievements of all sports teams and codes, but we are looking for our sporting hero, the one who stands out who deserves some recognition. Nominate your team mates, your kids, or even your coach and make sure that our proud sporting community gets to hear the stories of everyone involved in making Lithgow sporting what it is.
